What Are Microgreens?

I’ll admit I was a little confused about Microgreens when first hearing about it. Eating tiny plants growing so densely seemed very foreign to the traditional matured plants with plenty of space apart. Growing most plants to maturity is measured in months where as microgreens is measured in days and sometimes weeks.

Microgreens is just a fancy word for sprouts. Seeds are densely sown into trays and they grow very packed together. If we we’re to try and grow these densely packed seeds to a mature stage they would eventually compete for nutrients and fail to be a healthy crop. But with microgreens they have plenty of nutrients to share when they are in the sprouting stage. They typically are harvested when the first set of true leaves emerge.
